Walking, Training and Visiting

Free Initial 1/2 Hour Consultation For A Walking and Visiting only Service

I will make an appointment to come and visit you and your dog before I commence a dog visiting or walking service. I can then answer any of your questions, collect keys and also get to spend some valuable time with your dog(s).

Dog/Puppy Walking

I will not walk any more than three dogs from different households at any one time. I will follow your wishes as far as if your dog should remain on lead or off lead in safe areas agreed by you. Bespoke walks can be arranged for un-socialised dogs, however, careful management will be advised at consultation and precautions to prevent any accidents will be discussed, (there will be a slight increase in charges for 1-2-1 walks). Your dog(s) will be dried off if necessary have their water bowls replenished and given a treat before I leave. If required a note can be left about the walk.

Dog/Puppy Walking with Training 1-2-1

A training plan will be discussed with you during the initial consultation visit, (see tariff). A progress report will either be emailed to you after each session or a paper copy will be left at the next visit. Once the training has been completed I will arrange to visit you with an overview and action plan for you to follow. If you are able to attend these sessions with your dog an overview and action plan visit will not be required as the training techniques and demonstrations would have been detailed during the sessions.

Puppies

Young pups need socialising with many dogs so please try and get them to a puppy class i.e. www.pawsinhand.co.uk (Where I also take and assist in training classes with Denise Nuttall) or see www.apdt.co.uk. They also need to habituate to many different stimuli, i.e. traffic, animals, trains, shopping centres, people in uniform, postmen, children, scooters, prams, umbrellas, bikes etc. If you are finding it difficult to give your puppy this type of exposure during it's crucial socialisation period I can help, please contact me for a bespoke training and walking 1-2-1 or even taking them to a training classes for you. It is so important for their future development to have the exposure to new experiences before they reach 16 weeks and studies have shown that dogs should remain on a continual socialisation schedule until they are at least one year old as previous socialisation can wear off!

Dog/Puppy Training 1-2-1

A training plan will be discussed with you during the initial consultation visit, (see tariff). A progress report will either be emailed to you after each session or a paper copy will be left at the next visit. Once the training has been completed I will arrange to visit you with an overview and action plan for you to follow. If you are able to attend these sessions with your dog an overview and action plan visit will not be required as the training techniques and demonstrations would have been detailed during the sessions.

Kindly note that if I feel the training requirement is more of a behavioural issue I will urge you to contact your vet. This is extremely important as there maybe an underlying health problem causing your dog to act in a certain way, once this is ruled out, the vet can then refer you to a behaviourist. See www.pawsinhand.co.uk, as Denise Nuttall is a fully qualified and experienced behaviourist.

Dog and Puppy Visits

If your dog or puppy only requires to be let out in the garden for a comfort break, some human contact and maybe a playtime this can be arranged and discussed with you at the initial consultation.
